Description: The hub of the HSB is at Wernigerode. On shed can be seen four of the massive 2-10-2 tank locomotives, plus one of the Mallet 0-4-4-0 locmotives. The engines are kept in steam overnight, ready for the next day.

Description: The best place for train-watching on the line is Drei Annen Hohne. In the summer 2009 timetable, it was possible to see three steam-hauled trains all waiting for their depatures (to Wernigerode, The Brocken and Nordhausen). Here, 99 7236-5 is waiting for to depart for the Brocken.
